The Garland Independent School District will host a live workshop on Facebook about enrollment and transitioning back to class for Spanish-speaking families as the 2020-21 school year approaches.
Hosted by the district’s Family and Community Engagement Department, the workshop will be at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The district has dubbed the event “School for Parents,” during which families and guardians will be able to discuss the district’s preparation for the school year and voice any concerns they have.
The school year is scheduled to start on Aug. 10. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, students will attend the first four weeks of class remotely.
After the first month, families can choose whether their students will continue the semester with in-class instruction or through online learning.
“We look forward to interacting with you and communicating on the things that matter most to you,” Garland ISD said on its website.
The event will be accessible on the Facebook page for Garland ISD’s Family and Community Engagement Department.
For families without a Facebook account, the department will post a video of the event on its YouTube channel afterward.
An English-language orientation is already available on the department’s YouTube channel.
