FC Barcelona – La Liga Frenchman was seen at the airport
Antoine Griezmann sparked controversy on Tuesday night as he was caught leaving Barcelona at El Prat Airport, barely two hours after Barcelona’s 4-1 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
The 29-year-old was at the city’s private flight terminal to catch a plane to Lyon, France, to visit his family, as Ronald Koeman had given the Barcelona squad two days off following the loss to PSG.
Griezmann was seen inside the terminal by TV reporters, but he declined to make any statements. Although, there was one question that prompted a response from the Frenchman.
“What’s it to you?” Griezmann countered when asked why he was leaving the city after losing to the French giants.
It was not just on the pitch that Griezmann came in for criticism, as he also received a lot of stick on social media for breaking the curfew in Barcelona, which does not allow citizens to move around the city after 22:00 CET without a justified reason.
Yet, this was not the only controversial thing that involved Griezmann after the Champions League defeat. Images from the match showed the forward and Gerard Pique as Barcelona got ready for a corner, after Griezmann had assisted Sergino Dest in chasing back Kylian Mbappe.
“Let’s have a long possession, for f**k’s sake. F**king hell! Let’s go. A f**king long possession!” Pique yelled, speaking to all of his Barcelona teammates.
“Calm down, Geri, stop shouting,” Griezmann replied.
“F**king hell Grizi, f**k’s s…” the defender responded.
“F**k you,” Griezmann said.
“No, f**k you. We’re suffering and it’s been like this for five minutes,” Pique lamented.
“Don’t shout,” the Frenchman retorted.
“Motherf**ker, we’re running like crazy,” Pique replied.
“I’m running too,” Griezmann stated.
