FC Barcelona – La Liga Asked to prove his worth in training
Pedri has revealed a conversation he had with his coach Ronald Koeman a few days after joining Barcelona last summer.
The 18-year-old forward explained that the Barcelona coach admitted that he hadn’t seen him play before and therefore Pedri had to prove himself in training to win a spot in the starting line-up.
“One day [Koeman] put me aside and told me that he didn’t know much about me, that he had hardly seen me play and that I would have to show my skills and abilities in training,” Pedri told AP.
“I was motivated by that. I knew I had to work as hard as anyone to win my place.”
A few months after his arrival, Pedri has managed to break into Barcelona starting XI, mainly featuring in the midfield.
The former Las Palmas player seems to have already clicked with the team’s captain Lionel Messi and he is undoubtedly one of the breakthrough players this season in LaLiga Santander.
A big fan of Andres Iniesta, 18-year-old Pedri has still room for improvement at Barcelona.
