Frenkie de Jong was in good form for Barcelona on Saturday night but even his dazzling passing couldn’t take away the distraction of the bandages on his hand.
The Dutchman was very unlucky that his brilliant pass, which Lionel Messi controlled with his chest and fired home, wasn’t an assist as VAR ruled the goal out for brushing the Argentine’s hand.
De Jong’s hand also took the headlines as for some reason he was wearing a bandage on his left side and it looks like it was for a nasty bee sting.
His girlfriend Mikky Kiemeney posted on social media to reveal how bad the sting looked on De Jong.
The picture was posted on Sunday so it doesn’t seem that the 23-year-old has actually recovered from his meeting with a bee but he isn’t expected to have missed training for the Catalan giants.
The former Ajax man still managed to have a good game on Saturday as Barca did just about enough to see off the challenge of their Italian opponents to reach the quarter finals of the Champions League.
Barca took an early 2-0 lead in the game, thanks in part to Messi’s brilliant solo goal, before De Jong looked to have set up the six time Ballon d’Or winner for 3-0, before the goal was eventually disallowed.

The home side did eventually make it 3-0 on the stroke of half-time when Kalidou Koulibaly was eventually adjudged to have brought down Messi in the box, with VAR taking minutes to decide before Luis Suarez scored from the spot.
VAR’s delay gave Renato Gattuso’s side to get one back from their own first half injury time penalty but there were no goals in the second half as Barca did a controlling job.
Next up for the La Liga runners up, who have progressed further than league champions and fierce rivals Real Madrid, is Bayern Munich on Friday night.
The German’s are many people’s favourites to win the competition, which will now be played over one off games for the final three rounds.
